INTERNSHIPS

The Greensboro Science Center's internship program is designed to give selected college and graduate students the opportunity to utilize their academic knowledge in a professional work setting. Participants will find that their internship experience will help them develop leadership skills, determine future goals, and network with professionals. Interns may receive course credit for their internship by completing all school and program requirements. Internships are unpaid.

Relief Keeper: Part-time, Animal Discovery- Greensboro Science Center
The Greensboro Science Center is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a newly posted, part-time, non-benefited position as: Relief Keeper for Animal Discovery.

This position requires a minimum of a two-year degree in Zoo Technology or related program and 1 year of exotic animal care experience. Skills, abilities and job requirements include: experience in working with a diverse collection of animals, strong communication and teaching skills for daily keeper talks and, excellent observation skills. Candidates should be team-focused but also comfortable working independently. Duties include general feeding, cleaning, habitat maintenance, record keeping, daily enrichment, and operant conditioning, and daily while under the direction of the primary Animal Discovery Keepers. Other activities may include supervision of interns and volunteers, conducting keeper talks, and cross-over relief work in SciQuarium. This position requires flexibility in available work days and will include weekends/holidays. Hours may vary from week to week but may not exceed 29 hours/week on a regular basis.

PUBLIC PROGRAM PRESENTER
The Greensboro Science Center is seeking someone to join its rotation of public presenters, performing several 30-minute shows on scheduled Saturdays and Sundays as well as weekdays during Guilford County school summer vacation. The scripted shows are combinations of live theater with science education and are designed to be as entertaining as they are informative. An ability to engage audiences of children and adults is the principle requirement of the position and, therefore, theatrical performance experience is highly beneficial, though not an absolute prerequisite.
