Exhibit Guide Program

“Volunteering has helped me grow as a person by honing my socialization skills, as well as giving me a greater sense of responsibility. I love to interact with the visitors, staff, and children—who are cute and hilarious and all around fun to be with!”

-Savannah M., Summer 2015 Exhibit Guide alumni, Currently volunteers as an Exhibit Guide and as a Zoo Docent

FAQs

The most important thing our Exhibit Guides do is answer questions. By welcoming visitors into an exhibit, they set the tone for the experience. A friendly smile and the offer to answer questions both help put visitors at ease.

The program runs from June 14 to August 11. Exhibit Guides are expected to complete a minimum of 10 shifts during the course of the program. Shifts are available seven days a week. Morning shifts are from 8:45 to 1:00. Afternoon shifts are from 12:45 to 5:00. Exhibit Guides must come in to volunteer at least two shifts per month in June, July AND August. For example, you cannot do all 10 in June and be done with the program. Exhibit Guides will have access to an account in our online scheduling system. They will sign themselves up and remove themselves from the schedule as needed during the course of the summer. This allows for flexibility to work around summer sports, vacations, etc.
The Exhibit Guide program officially ends on August 11. Exhibit Guides who successfully complete the program are eligible to continue volunteering on the weekends during the school year.
