Young Adult Mentor Program

Young Adult Mentors (YAMs) are an important part of our robotics leagues at the Greensboro Science Center. YAMs aid teachers and coaches to help students reach their full potential on one of our robotics teams. Being a YAM requires good people skills (especially with children ages 8-14), a passion for science and robotics and the ability to take direction from the lead teacher/coach. You'll interact with students every team meeting and contribute to their positive experience here at the GSC.

Mentoring a FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) team is a large time commitment. Mentors are required to regularly attend team meetings, which are once a week on a designated day for 3 - 3.5 hours. You will also need to attend the team night at the GSC, the RoboRama in-house tournament and any NC FLL tournaments the team attends. Please be aware that tournaments are full day events. If you think the time commitment for fall FLL will be too much, there will be spring robotics league YAM opportunities opening in January.
