Our volunteers dedicate their time to educate our guests about the incredible animals and collections we have here at our organization. Each of these encounters between our volunteers and our guests is another chance to further our mission to “inspire scientific curiosity and encourage personal discovery about life and the natural world.”
We are unable to offer short-term opportunities for individuals such as student service requests or court-ordered community service.
Are you interested in a group or corporate volunteer opportunity? Love to work outside and get your hands a little dirty? We may be a great fit for you!

A Note for Parents/Guardians
Our volunteer programs are designed to foster independence and responsibility in young adults. While parental support is important, it’s crucial that volunteers take the initiative in managing the commitment they make with us. This means they should be the primary contact for communications and be proactive in handling their schedules and responsibilities.
When submitting an application, the applicant should provide their own email and phone number when filling out the application themselves. We encourage them to communicate directly with Volunteer staff. This experience is not only about volunteering but also about growing into responsible, self-sufficient young adults.
For more information on the benefits of young adults who volunteer, you can refer to this article by the Volunteer Opportunities.org, which highlights how volunteering can help young adults develop better communication skills, improve their self-esteem, and build a sense of community.
