Friday, April 5: Statewide Star Party
Join the Greensboro Science Center and the Greensboro Astronomy Club for an evening under the stars on Friday, April 5 from 8:30 -10 pm! We’ll have telescopes outside, weather permitting, and activities inside to explore the spring skies and try your hand at astronomy activities. This year, we’re highlighting the April 8 solar eclipse, which is partial but still impressive in our own backyard.

All ages are welcome, and admission is free to the public!

NC SciFest’s annual Statewide Star Party is made possible through the generous support of the NC Space Grant.

Saturday, April 6: Fur-st Saturday
Join us for another Fur-st Saturday at the Greensboro Science Center! Saturday, April 6 from 10 – 2 pm Guilford County Animal Services will be on-site hosting an animal adoption event in the SAIL Center. If you’re looking to give a fur-ever home to a furry friend, here’s your chance! In addition to the adoption event, Guilford County Animal Services will be providing a free rabies clinic in our front entrance circle for your cats and dogs. While animals are allowed at the free rabies clinic, they are not allowed inside of the GSC.

Fur-st Saturdays activities are free to the public. Admission to the GSC is not included in the event.

Monday, April 8: Solar Eclipse Party

After you experience the Statewide Star Party on April 5, join us for a Solar Eclipse event on April 8 from 2:00 – 4:30pm, with the peak at 3:14pm. Telescopes will be set up for sun viewing, and members from the Greensboro Astronomy Club will join GSC staff to discuss the eclipse.

This event will be held in front of the GSC. All ages are welcome to this free event.

Red Cross
Wednesday, April 17: Blood Drive
The American Red Cross needs your help! The Greensboro Science Center is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 10 am – 2:30 pm in the SAIL Center. Pre-registration is strongly recommended to ensure there is a spot available to donate. With someone needing blood every two seconds in the U.S., your donation makes a difference. You must be at least 17 years old to donate, and will go through a short health screening to determine your eligibility.

Admission to the Science Center is not included.
sensory-friendly-night
Thursday, April 25: Sensory Friendly Night

Sensory Friendly Nights are crafted to offer a welcoming and comfortable setting for those who may benefit from a less stimulating environment. Laser-U2

Friday, April 26: Laser U2

This spectacular laser light show plays in the Greensboro Science Center’s OmniSphere Theater and features music from U2.
Showtimes are 7:00, 8:00 & 9:00pm. Seating is limited.
Tickets are $7 each.
City Nature Challenge

April 26 - April 29: City Nature Challenge

The City Nature Challenge is an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. It’s a bioblitz-style, friendly competition you can do on your own, while helping scientists learn more about the plants and animals in our region!

Joining the Challenge is as easy as going outside, taking pictures, and uploading them to iNaturalist once you’ve found our project. For more information, contact Courtenay Vass.

Bonus! Observations may also be used for ecoEXPLORE, a citizen science nature exploration aimed at kids grades K-8.
