Greensboro Science Center

Young Adult Mentor

About the Program

Our teen program exists to develop young leaders, with an emphasis on science and conservation. YAMs are an important part of our robotics leagues at the Greensboro Science Center. YAMs aid teachers and coaches to help students reach their full potential on one of our robotics teams. Being a YAM requires good people skills (especially with children ages 10-14), a passion for science and robotics, and the ability to take direction from the lead teacher/coach. You’ll interact with students every team meeting and contribute to their positive experience here at the GSC.

We are currently accepting applications through August 4th at 5:00 pm!

Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be at least age 14 by August 1st, 2023.
  • Applicants must commit to a 3 to 4 hour team meeting each week from August to December with less than 2 absences. If the team advances to the state tournament, YAMs continue to volunteer in January.
