Winter Wonderland February 6
Join us as we explore all things winter. From investigating snow and ice to animals that hibernate, this class will be a chillin’ good time. We’ll make a snow craft and meet an animal friend that has the perfect winter outfit.
Toothy Grins February 13
We brush our teeth every day but what do other animals do? Explore ways to keep our teeth healthy and check out some animal teeth specimens.
Dinosaur Romp February 20
They’re big, bad and extinct! Or are they? Explore dinosaur fossils and even create your own fossil to take home. We’ll also meet some dinosaur relatives.
Seuss Science February 27
Bring your Thing 1 or Thing 2 to make some oobleck, create colorful One Fish, Two Fish prints and say hello to Yertle the Turtle. We’ll tie the imaginative world of Dr. Seuss to science.
Outstanding Octopus March 5
What has eight arms and three hearts? Why, an octopus of course! Let’s make a fun craft and meet our octopus keeper as we dive into the amazing life of these fascinating creatures.
Cool Cats March 12
Pounce into this class for a roaring good time and learn about cool cats found around the world. Discover amazing cat facts, make a cool cat craft and chat with one of our keepers. We’ll have a “purr-fectly” good time. Cat dress-up welcome.
Farm Fun March 19
Get a closer look at life on a farm. Make a farm craft, learn about farm chores and even meet one of our Friendly Farm animals.
Out of this World April 2
Get ready for the upcoming solar eclipse by learning all about the sun, moon and stars. We’ll have an astronaut snack and make an out of this world craft.
Ages 5-7: Wednesdays, March 6, 13, 20, 27; April 3, 10, 17, 24; 9:15-11:00 am
Ages 8-11: Thursdays, March 7, 14, 21, 28; April 4, 11, 18, 25; 9:15-11:00 am
Magicians perform amazing acts, yet they don’t tell you how. Let’s explore the way science helps magicians to perform their tricks and feats. We’ll write invisible messages, extinguish a candle without blowing it out and more!
Animals are amazing engineers! Imagine a 15-foot-tall termite tower, a complex beaver dam and a nest that could hold 400 birds. Join us as we learn about amazing animal engineers by trying our hand at creating similar structures.
Plan it, build it, test it! Think like an engineer and complete several engineering challenges. Build the tallest tower, create a boat that can hold the most weight, and even design a roller coaster.
Animals are hide and seek champions! Camouflage is an important adaptation that can help an animal hunt, hide and survive. Learn about some animals that use camouflage and play some games to try it out yourself! We’ll meet a GSC resident that is a camouflage pro.
In the words of Miss Frizzle, “Take chances, make mistakes and get messy!” We’ll embrace the dirtier side of science by trying out some of our messiest experiments. Make some slime, explore oobleck and fire off some Alka-seltzer rockets!
Take a closer look at birds and their amazing adaptations. Learn about some of our native birds and how to identify them, and even meet a feathered friend that calls the GSC home.
How can we care for the Earth? Learn ways to reduce, reuse and recycle to help our environment. We’ll make some items out of recycled materials to take home, including a popsicle stick harmonica!
Why is water so important for life on Earth? Join us as we learn about the incredible properties of water. We’ll explore a nearby creek in search of life both big and small. Please wear closed-toed shoes for this outdoor adventure class.
